In serious need of some family time, I am just about to embark on an epic 18-hour journey with my two kids under 5 years old. Knowing how hard it is to eat healthily in these situations, I want to give my body a quick nutritional boost on the way to the airport that is bursting with green goodness.

The dark green colour of spinach, broccoli and spirulina indicate they contain high levels of chlorophyll and health promoting carotenoids. These phyto-chemicals have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancerous properties.

They are all also high in essential fatty acids, good sources of iron, and a source of many micronutrients, which is maybe why Popeye enhanced his abilities after downing a cup of spinach! The addition of the pear adds some sweetness and some vitamin C.

It is also high in fibre, which is great for the old bowels before a long flight to help avoid getting all clogged up!
